The FCRC got a call from one of our high schools at 9:30 one night reporting that a student was found sleeping at one of the doorways to the school. BGEF was able to help with a night in a motel and FCRC and school staff are working with student to help reconnect with family and/or shelter options. FCRC staff is also helping with a C-Tran bus pass and help with immediate needs like clothes, sleeping bag, food etc. to get through the weekend.
Next week the FCRC will support this student with a mentor, help getting proper ID to support a part time job while finishing high school through the Earn and Learn program and academic support at school along with coordination with the students education team at school.
*CPS was not involved because the student is over 18
