The BGeF Board of Trustees is delighted to announce our scholarship winners for 2023. Jack Houlahan is the recipient of the $5,000 PHS Science Scholarship, and Kira Caesar is the recipient of the $2,000 Bill Ganley Scholarship!
The PHS Science scholarship is possible thanks to a generous donation from Dr Gene Quinn, a 1998 PHS graduate. He wanted to recognize the science teachers who inspired his love of science. He was also one of the founding student members of the PHS Science Olympiad Team. He currently is practicing medicine in Alaska with an emphasis in community health. Scholarship recipient Jack Houlahan plans to attend the University of Washington and pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
The Bill Ganley scholarship is gifted by BGeF. Bill Ganley believed in the powerful difference that one individual can make by serving those in their community. He demonstrated this as a longtime Battle Ground High School/Summit View Social Studies teacher, coach, and Battle Ground City Council Member. He served as mayor for the city of Battle Ground and sat on many countywide committees to support the needs of the people in Clark County. Scholarship recipient Kira Caesar plans to pursue a career as a dietician and will begin her degree work at Clark College.
Congratulations to both of these wonderful students!
